Today, May 24th, is World Schizophrenia Awareness Day. Schizophrenia, marked by psychosis, can disrupt various aspects of life, from personal relationships to work and education. Millions with schizophrenia experience a triple threat: stigma, discrimination, and human rights violations.
Several symptoms of schizophrenia include:

⭐ Delusions
⭐ Disorganised thinking
⭐ Changes in body language or emotions
⭐ Extreme agitation or slowing of movements
⭐ Impaired social functioning
It is a highly stigmatised condition due to lack of understanding and representation is displayed in the media. It is often portrayed as a ‘split personality’, however, Schizophrenia is derived from the terms ‘to split’ – schizo and ‘the mind’ 🧠 – phrene.
